Named in 1788 after the Greek sailor Juan de Fuca, the Strait of Juan de Fuca extends east from the Pacific Ocean between Vancouver Island, BC and the Olympic Peninsula, WA. The Juan de Fuca Strait is the principal outlet for the Georgia Strait and the Puget Sound. |
